Sonia Vera Riquelme

Sonia brings over 20 years of expertise in the financial sector across Latin America and the United States, with a proven track record in leading strategic initiatives in private equity, investment banking, and customer experience. In the public sector, she led the creation of prudential regulation for financial intermediaries in Mexico, while in New York, she provided investment banking advisory to corporates and family offices. She has held strategic roles such as CFO at Discovery Americas, a private equity fund in Mexico.

Sonia is a founding partner of Astra Capital, focused on nearshoring-driven growth. She currently serves as an Independent Director at public investment funds managed by Fondo Capital de Infraestructura and BlackRock, as well as proprietary member at Merited, K-12 schools, private equity portfolio company.

Sonia holds a degree in Economics and a diploma in Advanced Econometrics from ITAM, and an MBA from Columbia Business School. She is committed to strengthening corporate governance, promoting sustainable investments, and fostering the inclusion of women and minorities in the business sector.
